Extractions

Sometimes a tooth is too damaged to save, failing to fall out on its own, or creating problems for the teeth around it. When that's the case, removing it is the kindest thing we can do, and in our hands, it's a procedure that sounds much scarier than it actually is.

We approach every extraction conservatively. The vast majority are performed right here in our office with the comfort tools and technique that make all the difference for young patients. When a case is more complex than what we can comfortably handle here, we refer to trusted specialists, because your child's comfort always comes first.

Most extractions take 30 to 40 minutes. We use nitrous oxide routinely, along with local anesthetic and careful distraction technique. Most kids are genuinely surprised by how straightforward it is. Before you leave we'll give you clear aftercare instructions tailored to your child's specific procedure.

We do not proceed until we are completely confident your child is numb and at ease. We use Tell-Show-Do, keep our language calm and reassuring, and celebrate the moment it's over. The tooth fairy takes it from here.
